- 12 oz pasta spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne
- 1 bunch asparagus trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 lemon zested and juiced
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup heavy cream or pasta water optional for creamier texture
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes optional
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley or basil chopped
- 1 tbsp butter optional, for extra richness
Cook pasta
Bring a large pot of salty water to make a boil.
Add your pasta and cook the package as per the instructions to al -dent.
Set reserved of cup pasta water, then drain and pasta aside.
Sauté the Asparagus
Heat olive oil in a large pan on medium heat.
Add asparagus and step for about 3-5 minutes, but still crisp.
Stir in the made garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until aromatic.
Mix components
Reduce the heat to reduce and add ripe pasta to the pan with asparagus.
Pour reserved pasta into water and toss everything together.
