- 4 cups fresh or frozen green beans about 1 lb, trimmed
- 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese optional for extra creaminess
- 1 tsp soy sauce optional, for depth of flavor
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 ½ cups crispy fried onions divided
Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix base: In a large mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce (if using), pepper, and ⅔ cup of the fried onions. Stir in green beans and cheese (if using).
Bake: Pour mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes.
Top & finish: Sprinkle remaining fried onions on top. Bake an additional 5 minutes, or until onions are golden and crispy.
Serve: Let cool slightly, then serve warm as a holiday side dish.
