Ingredients

  • 8 oz of noodles yakisoba, lo mein, or spaghetti
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp mirin optional, for added sweetness
  • 1 tbsp sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp green onions chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds optional garnish

Instructions

  • Cook the Noodles: Boil your noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, mirin, sugar, salt, and black pepper.
  • Sauté the Aromatics: Heat sesame oil and butter in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  • Add the Noodles: Toss the cooked noodles into the pan, mixing well to coat them with the garlic and butter.
  • Incorporate the Sauce: Pour the sauce mixture over the noodles. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes, ensuring every strand is coated and the noodles soak up the sauce.
  • Customize (Optional): Add your choice of veggies or proteins, stir-frying until everything is heated through and well combined.
  • Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle green onions and sesame seeds on top. Serve immediately while hot

Notes

  • Noodle Choices: Traditional yakisoba works best, but you can easily substitute with ramen or even linguine.
  • Add-Ins: For extra protein, toss in grilled chicken, shrimp, or tofu.
  • Veggie Boost: Add mushrooms, zucchini, or onions to make it a complete meal.
  • Customizable Sauce: Adjust soy sauce or sugar to your taste — a little more sugar balances the savory umami flavors nicely.
  • Hibachi Vibes: Serve alongside fried rice, veggies, and your favorite hibachi protein for a full Japanese steakhouse experience!
